What do you do as a writing consultant?

As a writing consultant/coach, I specializes in providing feedback, guidance, and expertise in the writing process. I model writing and revising strategies and encourage writers to experiment with these strategies and methods.  I help students, professionals, or any individual or group that needs help writing professionally. I assist writers with analysis, research, organization, and development.I assist students with writing assignments via workshops or one-on-one coaching. I tutor  professionals wanting writing help. I bring exceptional editorial skills, am able to critique your writing and offer meaningful feedback or suggestions for improvement. What’s your training or experience in writing?

I have taught writing and reading at college and university in Washington state for more than 25 years in Washington and have administered writing and literary programs as a dean and executive administrator at Western Washington University, Cornish College of the Arts, and Bellevue College. I have taught at all levels of learning from pre-college, basic writing to advance writing to students preparing to be Language Arts or English teachers. I have taught Composition and Rhetoric, Literature, Expository Writing, Research Writing, Writing for Secondary Education, Advance Composition, Technical Writing, and Creative Writing. In addition to teaching writing, I have written Grants, Proposals, Creative Writing, Memoir, Personal Essay, and many types of professional writing that has been either published or received successful funding for my programs and/or employers. I hold a Master of Arts in English Studies from Western Washington University.  

I have served on municipal and state commissions for the arts, which solicits, funds, and reviews grant applications:  Kirkland Cultural Arts Commission; Washington State Arts Commission. I am well versed in the elements necessary in successful, winning grant applications.
